An assistant principal at Lima Senior High School will take over as principal next school year. 

The school board hired Tyler Turner at tonight’s school board meeting. 

Current Principal Fran Mort is retiring this summer. A group of staff from the high school and district interviewed five candidates for the position. Turner will begin his new job July 1.

Turner is a graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen High School and Miami University. He earned his master’s degree from the American College of Education.

Turner’s first teaching job was at Lima Senior High School, where he taught science for a year. He then spent two years teaching eighth-grade science for Kenton City Schools. He then taught science/STEM for seven years at Waynesfield-Goshen High School.

Turner returned to the Lima City Schools in 2020 to serve as an assistant principal at the high school.
