Lima Senior High School will hold a drive-thru graduation event on May 22 and 23 in the front of Lima Senior. Graduates should arrive in their cap and gowns. The schedule is as follows:

Friday, May 22, 6 p.m.: Graduates with last names beginning in A through G

Saturday, May 23, 10 a.m.: Graduates with last names beginning in H through M

Saturday, May 23, noon: Graduates with last names beginning in N through Z.

Graduates will be permitted one vehicle for themselves and immediate family members. Vehicles should enter Spartan Way via Jackson Street. You will then be directed toward the front of the school. We welcome families to decorate their vehicles to help celebrate their graduate.

When your graduate’s vehicle reaches the front of the line, the graduate will exit, approach the table and take the diploma, program and other awards if applicable. He or she will then stand with the diploma in front of a backdrop to get a picture taken. No one else is permitted outside of the vehicle.

All vehicles must exit the property onto North Street. No spectators are permitted around the school. This plan has been approved by the Allen County Health Department.

We will videotape each student getting their diplomas, along with the traditional graduation speeches, and put them together into one graduation video.

We also want to highlight graduates on the scoreboard in Spartan Stadium throughout the weekend. Please send a photo of our child in his or her cap and gown to jzell@spartan.limacityschools.org.

While we cannot have our traditional Honors Banquet and Convocation, we still want to honor our seniors who have earned awards and scholarships. We will announce awards and scholarships via video later this month and have those available on our Youtube sites and social media.

Meals

The Lima City Schools has made some changes to its food distribution schedule for the remainder of the school year.

Meals are now available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays at Freedom, Heritage, Independence and Unity elementary schools, Liberty Arts Magnet, North Middle School and Lima Senior High School.

Monday distributions will include two breakfasts and two lunches. Wednesday distributions will include three breakfasts and three lunches. The distributions will include bulk food items.

In an effort to minimize contact, meals will continue to be brought out to families’ vehicles. We ask that people open their trunks so that meals can be placed directly in.

Food pantries at North, Heritage, Freedom and Unity elementary schools will be open those days as well. Call the school to schedule pick up.

As always, the district will provide summer meals once the school year ends. Details of how distribution will work this year will come as it gets closer.
