Several buildings in the Lima City Schools have been named Breakfast All-Stars based on the number of students taking advantage of the breakfast in the classroom program the second half of this school year.

The recognition comes from the Ohio School Breakfast Partners, which includes the American Dairy Association, Action for Healthy Kids, Children’s Hunger Alliance, the School Nutrition Association of Ohio and the Ohio Department of Education.

Below are the individual school designations

Freedom Elementary, Independence Elementary, Liberty Arts Magnet School, North Middle School, South Science and Technology Magnet School and Unity Elementary School: Platinum (80 percent or higher participation).

Heritage Elementary, West Middle School: Gold (70 to 79 percent participation).

The district began serving breakfast in the classroom in 2003. The district’s program has often been recognized for its success, including being featured in the national “School Nutrition” magazine.
