The Lima Senior High School Athletic Department is ready to use new state-of-the-art technology to assess the health of athletes both before and after an injury.
The Lima City Schools is the only school district in the region to currently use this technology.
TRAZER uses computer-based simulation to provide coaches and athletic trainers actionable, objective data to intelligently assess athletes. Beginning with preseason baselines and continuing through an athlete’s career, TRAZER informs rehabilitation and player improvement through an interactive game-like experience.
Metrics gathered by TRAZER provides a true assessment of the performance capabilities of an athlete. This includes visual vestibular, cognitive, neuromuscular, musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory systems.
The technology will be especially valuable in the event of an injury, giving players and coaches a better and more accurate way to measure whether it is safe for an athlete to return to the field or court.
This is especially true with a concussion. In less than 10 minutes, a baseline can be completed for comparison later on. The baseline data can be compared to future tests to determine how recovery is progressing and when the athlete should return to play.
TRAZER tracks the acceleration, deceleration, speed and velocity of every movement, providing objective data that can detect movement deficits that could lead to higher risk of concussion or future injuries.
The Lima City Schools has two TRAZER units. One was donated by Lima Senior graduate and former football player William White. The Lima Senior Athletic Booster Club purchased the other.
