Thirteen Lima Senior High School DECA students are headed to the national competition next month after an outstanding showing at the state contest this past weekend.

Thirty five students qualified and competed in Columbus Friday and Saturday. The 13 national qualifiers will compete at the end of April in Anaheim, Calif.

An additional three students made the stage and Top 10, placing somewhere between fifth and 10th place. This was the most first and second-place finishes for Lima Senior in at least the last 12 years.

Below are the results. First, second and gold winners will go to nationals.

1st Place

Cameron Harris-Johnson – Principles of Hospitality

Madison Kataramu, Ashiana Sigman, Haley Vermillion – Community Service (Big Spartans Little Spartans mentoring program with North Middle School)

2nd Place

Kiara Buchanan, Reilie Lyons and Preshus Lowe – Business Services Research Project

Destiny Burk and Gabby Livchak – Buying and Merchandising Team Management

Jesus Pagan-Rosario, Dawson Clark and Nick Jolliff – Entrepreneurship Promotion Project (Spartan STEM project with Unity Elementary fourth graders)

GOLD

Skylar Quintero, Destiny Burk and Gabby Livchak – School Based Enterprise – Spartan Spirit Shop/Shack

Placing Top 10
