The Lima City Schools has partnered with Energy Optimizers USA in a $4.4 million energy conservation project.
The project is expected to generate more than $400,000 in savings annually by improving the quality, control and reliability of the district’s HVAC and lighting systems. Improvements will be made to all 10 of the district’s buildings with the dollar saved being reinvested into classrooms.
The majority of the work will be funded through the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission’s House Bill 264 program. This will allow the district to make the improvements at no cost to taxpayers.
The partnership also includes a Green Team of teachers from the district who will develop plans to educate students about energy management concepts and careers in STEM field.
