The Lima Senior High School Class of 2015 earned nearly $2.5 million in scholarships this year. Students received their awards at the school’s Honors Convocation May 20.

This class was also the first to take part in a new Lima Senior tradition: Academic Signing Day.  Students who had committed to a college, university or branch of the military gathered in front of family and classmates to do a ceremonial signing much like athletes do when signing to play at a certain school.

Students, wearing T-shirts and sweatshirts from their new schools, signed certificates at the same time and then each signed a large poster that will hang in Lima Senior.

The class of 2015 Valedictorian is Brandon Sutter and Salutatorian is Kayleigh Twining.

Sutter is headed to Ohio Northern University to study political science with a focus on philosophy and economics. He wants to eventually go to law school.

Twinning will attend The Ohio State University, where she will major in criminal justice and psychology.
