LSH singers, musicians shine at contest

Lima Senior High School had 13 superior (1) ratings at the recent Ohio Music Education Association’s Solo and Ensemble Contest.

The contest, hosted at Lima Senior, was held Jan. 17. Schools from around the region participated.

Earning superior vocal ratings were Alyssa Suarez, Brian Wright, Zoey Wurgess (two ratings), Destiny Burk, Xavier Cloud, Brad Stubbs, Masterworks ensemble 1, Xandra Badertscher, Spartanaires, Spartones and Janel Roach. Nathaniel Bankston earned a superior rating on the clarinet.

Excellent (2) ratings went to the violin duet of Alyssa Suarez and Pricilla Taylor, the symphony band low bass trio, and vocalists Bethany Jordan-Squire, Meridian Women ensemble, Leighton Gilroy and Masterworks TB ensemble.

Vocalist Josh Wilson and the Meridian Men TB ensemble earned a 3 rating. Vocalist Brandon Kuhl and the Freshmen Women group earned a 4 rating. Vocalists Jase Hickman and Olivia Jeffers and flutist Joanna Darnell performed but not for ratings.
