District to distribute school supplies

The Lima City Schools and community partners will give away free school supplies in a drive-thru format for this year’s Back to School Celebration. Distribution will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday Aug. 6, at Freedom Elementary School, 575 Calumet Ave.

Families will drive into the school’s parking lot and a book bag with school supplies for each student will be brought to vehicles. Families must stay in their vehicles.

While we had planned to have our full Back to School Celebration like we have for the past few years, the current pandemic made that impossible.

The following have donated to the event: Altrusa International of Lima, Salvation Army, Husky Energy, Lima Kiwanis Club, UAW Local 1765/Dana Corporation, Fresh N Faded, Grace Community Church, Kids Hope, Webb Insurance, Trinity United Methodist Church, Lima Community Church, Lima Education Association, Lima Congress of School Administrative Personnel and OAPSE Local 306.
