Public School Week, Open House coming

Picture of postcard announcing the open house.

It’s that time of year again to celebrate the Lima City Schools and highlight the district’s staff, students programs and success stories.

Celebrate Public Schools: Experience the Spartan Pride is the week beginning March 25. This is the third year the school district has held the week-long celebration that includes a social media campaign and activities throughout the district’s buildings.

The highlight of the week is the District-Wide Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at Lima Senior High School.

While the high school hosts the event, all of our schools and programs will be represented. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about every aspect of the school district, including career tech, gifted education, special education, magnets and athletic offerings. You might even get the chance to take a spin on this year’s NASA Rover.

Student projects and artwork will be on display and student performance groups will be on stage in the gymnasium throughout the evening. Be sure to stop by the new Kids Zone area for fun activities, face painting and information about our expanded preschool program.

The open house is also the perfect time to register for next school year!

Enjoy a meal on us prepared by Lima Senior High School’s Spartan Inn/Culinary Students. Thanks to the West Ohio Food Bank for its support of the meal.

The first 60 children to come through the doors will get a free comic book thanks to Alter Ego Comics.

The comic books are only the beginning of the many prizes attendees could go home with. Thanks to our partners in the community, we have more than 50 prizes to give away throughout the night. Be sure to stop by the prize table located near the front entrance of the school for a chance to win Spartan gear, gift cards to local businesses and much more.

While at the prize table, grab a grand prize punch card. Visit all the locations on the punch card, return the punch card to the prize table and maybe win a Chromebook or Echo Dot. Thanks to Ley Insurance and the Lima City Schools Technology Department for donating these grand prizes.

Thank you to the following supporters of the open house: Alter Ego Comics, Black Lace Hair Salon, Bobby Cue Grill, C&T Design, Crosshairs Lima, Dominion Energy, Fresh N Faded, Gordon Food Service, Husky Energy, Ley Insurance, Liberty Arts Magnet PTS, Lima Senior Athletic Department, Lima Senior DECA, Lima Senior Spartan Inn, Lima Sporting Goods, Love Lima Campaign, Smith Boughan, The Met, the Veterans Memorial Civic Center and Western Sizzlin.
