The Lima City Schools and many community partners will again give away free school supplies at a Back to School Celebration planned for 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug, 14, at Martin Luther King Park, 400 E. Eighth Street.
This will be the second year of the event, which brings businesses and organizations together to help families and provide a fun way to get ready for a new school year.
“We had such an amazing turnout last year and we can’t wait to do it again,” Superintendent Jill Ackerman said. “This is a great way for families to have a little fun before school starts and to make sure they have everything they need to start the year off right.”
Highlights of the afternoon will include:
- Free school supplies
- Free hotdogs, drinks and other food
- Free Spartan gear
- Lima Senior Face Painters
- Wiffle ball game with Lima Senior baseball program
- Fun with Lima Senior coaches and athletes
- Talk with school officials
- Spartan Community Health Center
- Community agencies
- Music from 93.9 KISS FM
- Other games and activities
- School Resource Officers
Many area businesses and organizations have made the event possible by collecting and donating school supplies and money and providing food. They are listed below:
