Supplies, food, fun at back to school event

The Lima City Schools and several community partners are bringing a Back to School Celebration to Martin Luther King Park.

The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15. It is an extension of the Meet Us at the Bus Stop events the school district held last fall throughout the community.

The celebration will include:

  • Free school supplies
  • Cookout (Free hotdogs, drinks and other food)
  • Free Spartan gear
  • Lima Senior Face Painters
  • Lima Senior athletes to play basketball, football and soccer with kids
  • Chat with school officials
  • Other games and activities

School supplies are being collected thanks to the Salvation Army, Grace Community Church, Lima Community Church,Trinity United Methodist Church, Lima First Assembly of God and Neighborhood Relief Ministries.

Food sponsors of the event include Gordon Food Service, Rightway Food Service, Western Sizzlin, Nickles Bakery, Pepsico/Frito Lay and Reiter Dairy.
