The Lima City Schools will spend the last week of March celebrating public school education and promoting all our wonderful opportunities, programs, students and staff.
Along with a district-wide public relations campaign, there will be special activities in all of our schools, culminating with an Open House at Lima Senior High School from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 30.
“From our preschool program through high school, we have so much to offer students and families,” Superintendent Jill Ackerman said. “We want all families to choose the Lima City Schools but we need to make sure they know all the reasons why they should.”
All of the district’s buildings and programs will be represented at the March 30 open house.
The evening will feature:
- Free meal from the student-run Spartan Inn
- Building tours
- Student projects
- Informational booths for all district buildings and programs (preschool, gifted, special education, magnets, athletics and more)
- Student performances featuring high school, middle school and elementary school students
- Student artwork
- Lima Senior face painters
- Lima Senior classrooms, including career tech labs, will be open
- DECA Spartan Spirit Shack open for business
- Spartan Health Center
“This will be a wonderful opportunity for our community to experience not only Lima Senior High School, but all of our buildings and programs,” Ackerman said. “Whether you have children in one of our elementary schools but have never been to Lima Senior, or you have never experienced any of our schools, this open house is the place to be on March 30.”
There will be prize drawings throughout the evening, with more than 25 items to be raffled off. Items include a Spartan Gift Pack, Gas cards, Gift cards to The Met, Walmart, Gordon Foods, Crosshairs Lima, 4 Seasons Car Wash, the Spartan Spirit Shack and other Lima area businesses.
A big thanks to those who donated prizes and other items to the open house: Liberty PTS, Kewpee Hamburgers, Dominion, The Met, Ley Insurance, Lima Senior DECA, Gordon Food service, Smith-Boughan, RightWay Food Service, Reiter Dairy, Crosshairs of Lima and the Love Lima Campaign.
As part of the week, students will participate in a district-wide poster/coloring contest. Winners of the contest will be recognized at 5:30 p.m. at the open house.
Parents should keep an eye out for more specific details on activities happening in their school building.
The week will also include a push to further spread the word about all the positives in the Lima City Schools. Look for testimonials from parents, students and graduates on Facebook, Twitter and on www.limacityschools.org
